Table as Space
2020
The world revolves around the interactions bodies have with surrounding space, these connections and partnerships alter the dynamics of individuals and community.

Developed from material culture the project The Table as Space is an experimental and ongoing sensory experience exploring the evolution and diversification of the table as an object of space and time to exhibit and hold. It is looking at how the table symbolizes inherited over the centuries and continues to contribute to shape the connections between material culture in relation to our habits developed in relation to our habits developed around a table.

I interpret these relationships with my kitchen table as a sensory experience through a highly experimental and documentational approach grounded in establishing connections and engagements to redefine shared experiences.

What is shared at the table is something beyond tactility. The material experience of the table is built from the shared dynamics between people and objects. It may be argued that the table has an aura because of the culmination of current reflections on what is or was established at that table

The engagement between people, objects on the table and around. It is an engagement between the mundane and ongoing experiences. It is the repetitive actions with the table and the dialogue around the table and across the table.
